Dalam cerita rakyat Georgia, Altamaha-ha atau Altie adalah makhluk legendaris yang konon menghuni anak-anak sungai dan bekas sawah dekat muara Sungai Altamaha. Penampakan terutama dilaporkan di sekitar Darien di McIntosh County. Menurut The Brunswick News legenda ini berakar pada tradisi Muscogee, dan satu sumber menyebut penduduk asli sudah percaya ada makhluk mirip ular raksasa di sungai itu sebelum penampakan resmi pertama tahun 1700. Ikan alligator gar diajukan sebagai penjelasan penampakan belakangan ini. The Altamaha-ha, also called Altie, belongs to the folklore of Georgia: it is said to haunt the streams and old rice fields where the Altamaha River meets the sea. Sightings are reported especially around Darien in McIntosh County. The Brunswick News traces the legend to Muscogee tradition, and one source says Native Americans already believed in a giant serpent-like creature in the river before the first formal sighting in 1700. An alligator gar has been proposed to explain recent sightings. In 2018 remains on a Wolf Island beach were briefly thought to be an Altamaha-ha, but artist Zardulu later said he made them from a stuffed shark and papier-mâché. The creature also appears as a boss in the game South of Midnight. In witness reports the size of the Altamaha-ha varies: one newspaper report gives about 70 feet, while other reports give 20-30 feet. It is described as swimming like a dolphin and, in one report, left behind a billow of water that made boats bump about, so that one witness ran for a rifle. The pages read record no attack on people or boats.
