The Black Lady of Bradley Woods is a ghost said to haunt the woods near the village of Bradley, Lincolnshire, England. The story has been told for generations and was once used by parents to scare children: 'the black lady will get you!' By the legend, during the Wars of the Roses or the Barons' Wars a young woodsman lived with his wife and baby son in a cottage in Bradley Woods. He went to war, and every day his wife waited at the wood's edge, until an enemy army crossed the Humber; three horsemen assaulted her and seized her baby. Grief-stricken, she roamed the wood looking for her son and husband but never found them, and after her death people began to see her roaming there. According to the sv article the story has been told for many generations.
