Kisah dan tradisi
Dalam kepercayaan orang Yakut di Siberia, Ulu Toyon ("tuan agung") adalah raja iblis yang memerintah para abasy. Ia tinggal di langit ketiga atau dunia atas dan menjadi pelindung para dukun serta beberapa marga Yakut. Ia ayah burung gagak dan sering tampil dalam wujud gagak sendiri. Melalui gagak ia memberi manusia api dan menganugerahi mereka jiwa (sür), sementara wujud sejatinya tak terlihat oleh manusia fana. Dalam beberapa mitos ia muncul sebagai hewan besar berwarna hitam, seperti beruang, banteng, kuda jantan, atau rusa besar. Sebagai pelindung dukun, ia mengadili perselisihan dan menghukum orang yang menyakiti seorang dukun; pengadilannya keras tetapi adil. In the belief of the Siberian Yakuts, Ulu Toyon ('great lord') is a demon king who rules the abasy. He lives in the third heaven, or upper world, and is the patron of shamans and of several Yakut clans. He is the father of ravens and often appears as a raven himself. Through the raven he gave people fire and granted them a soul (sür), while his true form remains invisible to mortals. In some myths he shows himself as a large black animal such as a bear, bull, stallion or elk. As patron of shamans he settles disputes and punishes people who wrong a shaman; his judgement is harsh but just. His wife is Buus Dyalkyn Khotun, and their children lead nine tribes of spirits in the southern sky. Scholars disagree whether he belongs among the good spirits (aiyy) or the evil ones (abasy).
