The Adlet are a race of beings with a dog's lower body and a man's upper body in the Inuit mythology of Greenland, Labrador and Hudson Bay.
In the Inuit mythology of Greenland and the Labrador and Hudson Bay coasts, the Adlet or Erqigdlet are a race whose lower body is like a dog's and upper body like a man's. They run fast, are taller than people, often clash with humans and in some stories eat them, though encounters usually end in the humans' favour. In myth an Inuit woman on Hudson Bay married a giant red dog with supernatural powers and bore ten children: five puppies and five fierce hybrids. One version says the five wolf children crossed the sea and became the ancestors of the European peoples. The Labrador and Hudson Bay peoples identified the Adlet's descendants with inland Native peoples.
